Colorful Background Page with Distress Inks – Live it Do it

Colorful Background Page with Distress Inks

Colorful Background Page with Distress InksI took some classes over on Bluprint (you have probably see the commercial during the TV Show “Making It” on NBC.  Anyway I learned how to make a colorful background page with distress inks.

This was my first attempt and I got MUCH BETTER later on in learning how to blend the inks better, BUT for this page, I’m SUPER HAPPY I didn’t know because the splotches MAKE IT!  ~Like my fav BOB ROSS said “there are no mistakes only HAPPY ACCIDENTS!

Products used to create this colorful background page:

The distress inks I used, are of course of the famous Tim Holtz collection.  I love them and use them frequently!

There is so much to be done with distress inks!! In the video below I show a couple of techniques, one of them is a reverse technique that removes are weakens the colors making it a lovelier design.

I also used the mini blender tools  you see in the picture above.  They come with disposable and replaceable foam pads.  These last a LONG TIME! Only replace them we you see them start to come apart (you will see little particles on your work – simply wipe away and replace with a fresh pad.)  Another tip is to write you color family on your tool.  This way you have a tool for every family.  But at least 9 tools to start with!  These tools are a MUST HAVE! I show below the ones I have.

Stencils are another great way to create a background I used to different ones in this project from a particular set of three from a Tim Holtz stencil collection.  That is shown below as well.

And now for our video!

I made a mistake at the end and record the paused parts instead of what I was actually doing, but you get the idea anyway.  NO NEED TO COPY anyone just take what you see and make it yours!!

Enjoy in Joy!! ~~Tina
